Abstract
Healthcare is critical to the wellbeing of a nation’s citizens. Countries commit between 4{9f7d52c9742c355cf981c79a007fd007a80af0fc2789391f4fc5693bccefe4aa} and 17{9f7d52c9742c355cf981c79a007fd007a80af0fc2789391f4fc5693bccefe4aa} of their GDP to healthcare. Generalized trends affecting healthcare will be presented.
Cancer is at the top of leading causes of deaths worldwide. Cancer statistics of the US and China will be shown. Radiation therapy is the use of X-rays to treat cancers. X-rays and the machines that produce them will be discussed.

簡介
Dr. Stephen W. Cheung is currently an adjunct professor of physics at the University of Hong Kong. His career covers satellites, medical devices and microwaves in the Silicon Valley as well as consumer electronics in Hong Kong. He held engineering and management positions at Varian Medical Systems and later at Accuray Inc., both companies are premier suppliers of radiation therapy systems. He was also a principal investigator of special development projects of X-ray systems funded by the government, the work of which earned Accuray a national award. Dr. Cheung holds a number of US patents in X-rays applications and is author of a book in microwave technology.
